Guest Dave TDI Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Hi everyone Having just picked up my Galaxy from my local dealership (Allens of Romford) my fingers are crossed that may be, just may be the clutch master cylinder will not fail again. My Galaxy which as now covered 77,000 miles (newshape 115 TDI Zetec) as had SIX, yes SIX different clutch master cylinders fitted. On previous occassions just the master cylinder was changed, however after Allens' consulting Ford's about the problem it was agreed to take out the gear box and change the slave cylinder as well.I also had the clutch and clutch pressure plate changed at the same time since I was not paying for the labour.Fingers crossed it should be ok now.Has anyone else experienced any simular problems?Ford's informed me that there as been no recall due to master cylinders failing.Their response to Allen' this time round was that they (Ford's) had experienced the problem with another Galaxy (3 master cylinder failures) due to the slave cylinder weeping, drawing air into the system. Hence the slave cylinder change this time round. I will be interested to any comments Dave Quote

Cannot believe that at all, and a weeping slave doesn't draw in air - load of b*ll*cks. Have they stripped the master to look at what the problem is? Presumably the seal failed allowing the fluid to leak back when the pedal was pressed. Possibly due to contamination or maybe someone (in the garage) didn't assemble it correctly. Quote
Guest Dave TDI Posted March 28, 2004 Report Posted March 28, 2004 Seatkid Thanks for your info.As I quoted previously this time round the gear box came out with the clutch, clutch pressure plate slave and master cylinders all being changed. The fluid was also replced and the system bled.If it goes again Allen's and Ford's will have some explaining to do!!!!!! I have lost my RAC Quote
